Utility Work Results in Month-Long Closure of West Alu Road

Contracted utility work is currently underway on West Alu Road in Wailuku, resulting in the temporary partial closure of the road for approximately one month.

The Department of Water Supply contracted Goodfellow Bros, Inc. to perform the utility work on West Alu Road between ʻĪao Valley Road and ALaneo Place.

Work is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area as there will be no through traffic on West Alu Road.

That means motorists headed mauka (uphill) on Main Street, will be diverted onto ʻĪao Valley Road once they reach the fork in the road at the West Alu intersection.

If the area cannot be avoided, motorists are advised to drive with caution and to follow all traffic control detours and signs.
