The Maui Historical Society will host a Moonlight Mele featuring George Kahumoku, debut the Historical Exhibit of Hula and will host its 3rd annual Lei Day Heritage Festival all between Saturday, April 29, and May 1, at the historic Bailey House in Wailuku.

The Maui Historical Society, Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House in Wailuku will recognize the 1st Annual Trio Contest, under the direction of Dr. Keola Donaghy and the Institute of Hawaiian Music, featuring Uncle George Kahumoku and the gifted talents of Dr. Noelani Arista of UH Mānoa, Mr. Brad Bordessa, Author of ʻUkulele Chord Shapes, and brilliant Multi-Nā Hōkūhanohano Award Winner Keneth Makuakāne.
There will be music workshops, entertainment, food and drinks available for purchase. General admission is $10, $5 for children, and kupuna 65+/keiki 12 and under are free. No coolers are allowed. Click here for more information or call 808 984-3447.

Hula: The Soul of Hawaiʻi

The Maui Historical Society, Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House in Wailuku will debut the Historical Exhibit of Hula: A Maui Tradition on Sunday, April 30. This special occasion will premiere HULA The Soul of Hawaiʻi featuring exceptional Maui Kumu and their Hālau: ʻIliahi & Haunani Paredes, Napua Greig Nakasone, Kamaka Kukona, Kealiʻi Reichel, Kahulu Maluo, Iola Balubar and more. The Maui Historical Society, Hale Hōˊikeˊike at the Bailey House in Wailuku will present its 3rd Annual Lei Day Heritage Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2375A Main St. on Monday, May 1, 2017. This is a free community event featuring a lei contest, special demonstrations, food and entertainment.
