A man accused of murdering his estranged wife at a Wailuku supermarket is scheduled to appear in court today for an evidentiary hearing.

Three doctors who examined murder suspect Stephen Schmidt, are scheduled to testify to determine his mental fitness.

Schmidt is charged with fatally stabbing 24-year-old Kehau Farias at the Kehalani Foodland on April 19, 2016.

He is currently being held at the Maui Community Correctional Center.
