The King Kekaulike High School football team is hosting a free summer youth football clinic on Saturday, June 17, at the school’s baseball field.

This year the athletic department has partnered with coaches from Fastletics and 3 And Out Training for its 2017 Defensive Skills Camp. The one-day event will focus on teaching the basics of athletic training, with the emphasis on defensive positions —defensive linemen, linebackers and defensive backs — their movement patterns and fundamental characteristics.

The clinic, or skills camp, consist of two sessions, beginning with Session I from 8 to 9 a.m., for players in Grades 3-5. All interested boys and girls need to register at 7:30 a.m. The cost is free.

Session II, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., is for all middle and high school athletes. The 90-minute event is also free. All interested athletes need to register at 9 a.m.

The King Kekaulike staff encourages all athletes to be on time, dress appropriately — workout gear and cleats (no metal cleats) — bring water, and a positive attitude. Visitors are ask to use the school’s main entrance on the old Kula Highway side of the campus. There will be plenty of parking and signs posted.

The Fastletics’ F.A.S.T. Performance program integrates four fundamental skills: quick feet, agility, speed, and technical skills. 3 And Out’s S.P.E.E.D. Training emphasizes: strength, power, explosive movements, endurance and dynamic training.

For more information, call Kekaulike Athletic Director P.K. Higa at 264-2518 or the school’s co-head football coach Tyson Valle at 281-8468.
