More than 40 groups participated in the 52nd Annual Makawao Parade, held Saturday, July 1, 2017.

The 52nd Annual Makawao Parade was held on Saturday, July 1, with over 40 participating groups.

The theme of the parade was Ka Nohona Paniolo – Past, Present, and Future Paniolos. Grand Marshall Henry Silva led the parade. For the first time, the parade honored a special community member, Rose Freitas for all of her community contributions.

This years winning parade participants include:

Most Patriotic – Daughters of American Revolution
Best Parade Horse – Breanne Doke
Best Mounted Rider – Grand Marshall Henry Silva
Best Mounted Group – Hawaii High School Rodeo Maui District
Best Mounted Keiki – Maui Ponies
Most Unusual Entry – Sam Viveiros
Best Musical Entry – Maui High School Marching Band
Best Float Entry – Goodfellow Bros., Inc.
Best Representation of Parade – Rose Cambra Freitas

Parade float judges included Morris Haole, Representative Lynn DeCoite, JoAnn Aiwohi, Cielo Molina, and Chris Dee.
