The Maui Humane Society announced they will participate in national “Clear the Shelters” Day on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, by waiving all adoption fees on adult dogs, cats and critters.

More than 700 shelters around the country will be holding adoption events in an effort to “Clear the Shelters.”

MHS says the adoption push comes at a crucial time as the shelter had become crowded in the past few weeks, with SOS foster requests going out to the community for both dogs and cats.

“Clear the Shelters is a great way to raise awareness about the many dogs, cats and critters that are in need of permanent homes,” said Jerleen Bryant, CEO of Maui Humane Society. “We are thrilled to be part of this nationwide event in order to find forever homes for all of the animals in our care.”

Clear the Shelters was created to help address overcrowding of animal shelters and to raise awareness about the benefits of adopting from a local animal shelter. Across the country, over 50,000 pets found their homes last year during the Clear the Shelters event.
