Former UH Football Coach June Jones Named Head Coach of Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Former University of Hawaiʻi head football coach, June Jones was appointed as head coach of the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats, according to a football club announcement today.

Jones joined the Tiger-Cats earlier this month as Assistant Head Coach on Aug. 2, 2017.

Kent Austin, Vice President of Football Operations of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats said, “June and I have established a great relationship, and I feel comfortable and very confident with him handling the on-field product moving forward. This organization, its fans and partners deserve a championship caliber team and we fully expect to work together to return us to that level.”

Jones’ past employment has included stints in the NCAA at Southern Methodist University (2008-14) and the University of Hawaiʻi (1999-2007); and in the National Football League with the San Diego Chargers (Interim – 1998) and Atlanta Falcons (1994-96).

Last year, Jones served as offensive coordinator at Kapolei High School. He was also named athletic director at Saint Louis School in December 2016.
