Update: 11:34 p.m. 9.8.17

Maui police reopened the Honoapiʻilani Highway at Mile 17 at around 11:30 p.m.  The road was partially closed for about four hours while police and emergency crews responded to a trafffic accident in the area.

Motorists are advised of a partial road closure on the Honoapiʻilani Highway at Mile 17.

Police say the south-bound lane is closed due to a traffic accident. The closure went into effect at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017.

The accident was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. in Olowalu.

Emergency units are on scene. Police were alternating traffic at last report.  The north-bound lane is being utilized for contra-flow traffic.
