Benilda D. Mariano
August 20, 1937 – May 14, 2018

Benilda D. Mariano, 80, of Lahaina, Maui, passed away on May 14, 2018. She was born on August 20, 1937, in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Maria Lanakila Church; mass will begin at 7pm. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018, at Norman’s Mortuary; blessing will begin at 10:00 a.m.; burial will follow, 11:00 a.m., at Valley Isle Memorial Park Cemetery in Haiku. Norman’s Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Benilda retired at Kahana Beach Hotel. She is survived by her husband, Bernardo J. Mariano; sons, Cid (Lita) Mariano, Rod (Jaclyn) Mariano; grandsons, Cedrick Mariano, Gibson Mariano (Dyana); and granddaughter, Christine Mariano.

Amelia Emma Kuloloia
June 9, 1949 – May 10, 2018

Amelia Emma Kuloloia, 68, of Wailuku, passed away on May 10, 2018 at her home. She was born on June 9, 1949 in Honolulu.Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Faith in Jesus Church, service will begin at 6 p.m., and cremation will follow. Family request no flowers.

Amelia retired from Baldwin High School where she worked as a custodian.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Kuloloia; children, Kimberley (William Juan) Kuloloia-Juan, Joseph (Jessica Abreu) Kololoia Jr., Kathleen (Vincente Jr.) Kuloloia-Palalay, and Andrew (Jaimee) Kuloloia; brothers, Thurston Hillen, and Allison (Colleen) Hillen; sisters, Pauline “Aloha” Kuhia, Vivian Gabin, Hannah Kilakalua, and Francine Wong; 7 grandchildren, Faith and Thomas Kuloloia-Juan, Jeremiah Kuloloia-Palalay, Tejahlyn Kuloloia, Kendra “Makana” Kuloloia, Andrew Kuloloia Jr., and Kaileen Kuloloia-Palalay; and 1 great-grandson, Titan Kuloloia-Juan.

Grace Marie Morreira
April 25, 1928 – May 6, 2018

Grace Marie Morreira, 90, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on May 6, 2018, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on April 25, 1928, in Paia, Maui.
Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandma, who always put her family first. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Raphael J. Morreira; sister, Vivian Kekona; son, Raphael V. “Sonny” Morreira; daughters, Betty Jean (Sam) Farr, Deborah (Paul) Emanovsky; grandchildren, Lianne Maddela, Jeremy Maddela, Kevin Freitas, Skye Farr; great grandchildren, Keaka Jayden Funes-Maddela, Jacelynn, Torrie and Isabella Freitas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday May 25, 2018, at Norman’s Mortuary; service will begin at 7:00 p.m.; cremation will follow.

Lynda Ferrell
July 17, 1971 – May 5, 2018

Lynda Muchidin Isa Muchayin Ferrell, 46, of Hilo, Hawaii, died peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2018 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice.Born on July 17, 1971 in Sumatra, Indonesia, Lynda was a world traveler, living in Russia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia with her diplomatic family before marrying James Ferrell in 1994, and settling in Hawaii to raise her children Jeffrey and Jessica. Lynda loved Hawaii, and chose to live out the remainder of her life on the island.

Lynda’s business education and entrepreneurial spirit drove her to establish Lynda’s Aloha Fashion, an import company providing the latest in Indonesian designs, which could be found at local boutiques and markets. Lynda loved spending time with her family and friends, and will be remembered for her kindness and delicious Indonesian cuisine. Her personal desire was to help parentless children.

Lynda will truly be missed by many.

Family survivors include her husband James Ferrell daughter Jessica Ferrell, son Jeffrey Ferrell, sister Yuliana Muchidin, and family Ridwan Walangadi, Rudy Walangadi, and Farida Walangadi.

Burial services will be held at Veterans Cemetery #2, in Hilo, HI at 8:30am Friday May 18, 2018. Burial services may be attended by family and friends.

William Charles Pumehana Kuhaulua

William Charles Pumehana Kuhaulua, 35, of Wailuku, passed away on May 4, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 21, 1983 in Wailuku.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Ballard Family Mortuary, service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held again at Ballard Family Mortuary on Saturday, June, 2, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Maui Memorial Park.

William was a car detailer at Aloha Maui Limo.

He is survived by his companion, Shawna Aoki; daughter, Liana Kuhaulua; mother, Geranium Kuhaulua; sisters, Cecily-Ann (Robert) Poouahi, Sweetheart (Kaleo) Kuhaulua; brothers, Irving Kuhaulua, Charleston Kuhaulua, Kamoa (Kanani) Kuhaulua, Ivan (Tanya) Kuhaulua; and uncle, Charles Aki.

Juanita Lepson
November 12, 1938 – May 3, 2018

Juanita Lepson, 79, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on May 3, 2018. She was born on November 12, 1938, in Lahaina.

A celebration of Jaunita’s life will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Norman’s Mortuary from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The family requests aloha attire.

Juanita was a retired Clerk Typist for the Department of Education. She is survived by her son, Scott Paul (Rana) Lepson; daughter, Denise Lepson; siblings, Dolores Fabrao – deceased, Maggie (Robert) Schulte, Veronica (Thomas) Gomes, Valentin Jr. (Jojo) Oson, Bernie (Wade) Tamashiro, 2 grandchildren, Justin Avery Lepson, and Jacob Earl Lepson and numerous nieces & nephews.

Rowena Aloha Nelson-Torris, 61, of Hana, passed away on May 3, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 23, 1957 in Hana.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Ballard Family Mortuary, service will begin at 6 p.m. and cremation will follow.

Rowena was a self-employed Arts & Crafts maker. She also worked as an in-home care nurse, and flower farm worker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Torris; sons, Herman I. (Peggy) Nelson, Erick (Roxanne) Nelson, Roman Piimauna-Beck; daughters, Donna Lee (Jeremiah) Nelson, Sundae (Jesse) Stachurski, Jonelle (Kukui) Piimauna-Beck; brothers, Keith (Gizelle) Kuailani, Keoki, Kalani; sister, Nalani Shamblin; sisters-in-law, Naomi Kuailani, Darlene Kuailani, Linda Kuailani; and 13 grandchildren, Imiloa, Nakoa, Kekai, Casey-Lyrick, Liam, Joshua, Landon, Princess, Jerimiah, Cherish, Ester, Aimoku, and Aspen.

Lorenzo C. Sagayaga, 81, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on May 3, 2018, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on August 15, 1936, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Christ the King Church; mass will begin at 11:00 a.m.; burial will follow, 12:30 p.m., at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku.

Lorenzo retired from Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company. He was predeceased by his parents, Paulino & Antonia Sagayaga; and daughter, Consolacion Sagayaga. He is surivived by his wife, Josefa Sagayaga; daughters, Lolita (Tom) Boyle, Ofelia (Henry) Delgado; siblings, Aurelio (Maggie) Sagayaga, Eugenio (Riley) Sagayaga, Matthew (Connie-deceased) Sagayaga, Genie (Eddie) Eder, Teresa (Richard) Balmaceda, Antonio-deceased (Irenia) Sagayaga, Agapito-deceased (Josefina) Sagayaga; grandchildren, Tommy Boyle Jr., Keani Boyle, Lizette Delgado, Karen Delgado; and great grandchildren, Marcus Merrick and Oliver Ogihara
