MEO Honors Grads of Business Development Workshop
Maui Economic Opportunity recently held its Core Four Bankers Graduation Luncheon for fifteen graduating students from its Core Four Business Planning Course.
Attending the luncheon, representing the Mayor’s Office was Don Couch, former South Maui Councilman and current executive assistant to Mayor Alan Arakawa. Mr. Couch congratulated the group and offered encouraging words to the graduates on the many benefits of entrepreneurship.
At the graduation, the soon-to-be entrepreneurs received one-on-one guidance from local commercial bankers from First Hawaiian Bank, Central Pacific Bank and Bank of Hawai‘i. The students’ business plans and ideas were reviewed and discussed with suggestions and guidance for launching a successful business. The graduating students received a Certificate of Achievement and a congratulatory lunch.
MEO BDC’s Core Four Business Planning is a 36-hour course on how and why you write a business plan while providing real time information on what you need to know to start, operate and grow a successful business in Maui County.
For those interested in learning more about the entrepreneurial training course you can call Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. Business Development Center, at (808) 249-2990. The next Core Four Wailuku course series will be held in the evenings 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
One-hour introductory classes will be held at MEO’s Family Center on Tues. June 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the Maui County Business Resource Center at the Maui Mall on Wed. June 27th from 12:00 p.m. to :00 p.m. The series begins on Tues. evening July 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. continuing two days a week through Aug 9.
The course cost is $300 and scholarships are available. Registration for the series and can be done at the introductory classes or any weekday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at MEO’s Family Center.
In addition there is a West Maui Core Four series that starts on Mon. July 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the UHMC Ed Center on 60 Kenui St. in Lahaina.
