AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch: Prices Mixed
Hawaiʻi gas prices were mixed over the past week with Wailuku, Līhuʻe and Kahului reporting declines from the week before; while Hilo saw an increase and Honolulu’s price was unchanged.
The average price for regular gas in Wailuku and Kahului is $4.04, down four cents from last week, down three cents from last month, and up 53 cents from the same date last year.
“Motorists in the western United States are seeing the most expensive pump prices in the country: Hawaiʻi ($3.73), California ($3.66), Washington, ($3.43), Alaska ($3.40), Oregon ($3.31), Nevada ($.3.24) and Arizona ($3.01),” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager. “However, the majority of prices in the region have declined since last week, with Arizona, Nevada and Oregon seeing the largest decreases at two cents each.”
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.60, which is unchanged since last Thursday, one cent higher than on this date a month ago and 71 cents higher than last year at this time. The Hilo average price is $3.79, which is one cent higher than last Thursday, eight cents more than on this date last month and 77 cents higher than on this date a year ago. Līhuʻe’s average price for regular is $3.86, which is two cents lower than last Thursday, the same price on this date last month and 53 cents more than a year ago.
