Submissions open in February for the 2nd annual Made in Hawaiʻi Film Festival, happening on Hawaiʻi Island in June 2019.

The independent film festival brings a weekend long lineup of Hawaiʻi-made content to the Hilo Palace Theater on June 1 and 2, with a follow up “Best of Fest” evening at Kona’s Aloha Theater on June 14.

Submissions open Feb. 1 and run through March 15, 2019. Categories include feature-length and short narrative films, documentaries, music videos and web series. To qualify, projects must have at least 50% of principal photography shot within the state of Hawaiʻi, completed no earlier than January 2016.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing the festival back to Hawaiʻi Island for a full weekend run, plus a follow up in south Kona,” said festival Executive Director Zoe Eisenberg. “We can’t wait to see what Hawaiʻi-based filmmakers have been working on this past year.”
