Maui’s Baldovi Co-Stars in Digital Talk Show
A former Maui resident co-stars in a new digital talk show entitled, “Two Besties Together,” which celebrates friendship, good vibes and good times weekly.
“It’s a platform that explores friendship and highlights diversity,” said Malia Baldovi who was born and raised on Maui and is originally from Kahului.
Baldovi tells us she graduated from Maui High School in 2007, and also attended Lihikai and Maui Waena Elementary schools.
Baldovi, who is part Hawaiian and Asian-American joins fellow millennial host, Thomas Orlina in the launch of the program on YouTube.
The 15 minute show, also known as by the acronym TBT, is a nod to the online term, “Throwback Thursday,” with new episodes published each week on Thursdays.
The show features three five minute segments: “The Topic,” which explores vibrant conversations and discussions; “The Product,” which introduces new products by entrepreneurs, influencers and business owners; and “The Throwback,” in which the two share moments from the past.
Baldovi, who serves as both co-host and executive producer, has experience working on set and in television production most recently for the USA Network franchise, Temptation Island.
“This has been an amazing process and having a show to interact with the audience and working with someone I call my bestie is amazing,” said Malia whose friendship with Orlina dates back 10 years.
Orlina is best known for creating and starring in his self-produced eight-episode show titled, “Your Time With Thomas” which was featured in articles online including a live television sit-down interview with CNN in the Philippines.
“I’m so grateful to be able to continue to create content that allows me to tap into the world of imagination in hopes to inspire and connect with today’s society,” said Orlina. “Being the creator, host and executive producer on this show with my bestie has been an innovative and unique experience.”
Baldovi ended up in Los Angeles after high school. “The possibilities out her are endless,” she said. “Growing up, I’ve always wanted to be in entertainment.”
The two are pitching the show to television networks in the hopes that the entertainment industry will be interested in the concept. So far, the two have produced five episodes
