Haleakalā National Park’s ‘Imi i ka Lama Collegiate Internship Program and Pōhai Maile High School Internship Program are planned for Summer 2019. All applications must be received by 4 p.m. Friday, Mar. 1, 2019.
‘Imi i ka Lama Program
‘Imi i ka Lama is an eight week summer internship for college age students who are interested in careers in natural resources/conservation and/or the National Park Service. Five positions are available in the areas of Cultural Resource Management, Interpretation, Visitor/Resources Protection, and Team Leader.

Pōhai Maile Program
Pōhai Maile is a three week summer internship for high school students to learn about the work that benefits the natural environment and historical resources of Haleakalā National Park. Six positions are available to engage in hands-on experience with professionals in diverse jobs and professions in the National Park Service.

Students interested in these fields, both indoor and outdoor work or in education, Hawaiian studies, conservation, history, and tourism careers are encouraged to apply. Candidates will be selected through an application, background check, and interview process. Interns will earn $200 per week and the Team Leader will earn $400 per week. Graduates of the ‘Imi i ka Lama Program will be eligible to earn an AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,252.
Applicants must be available full-time from June 10, 2019 to Aug. 2, 2019, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., not including travel time. Free transportation is provided from Central Maui and upcountry. Neighbor island residents are encouraged to apply, however they must seek their own lodging.
