Maui police responded to 5 burglaries, 13 vehicle thefts and 11 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Feb. 24 to March 2, 2019.

Maui police responded to 5 burglaries, 13 vehicle thefts and 11 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Feb. 24 to March 2, 2019.

Burglaries and vehicle thefts were unchanged and vehicle break-ins decreased from week before levels.

Burglaries were unchanged +0% from the week before when 5 incidents were reported over the seven day period. Vehicle thefts also were unchanged, +0% from the week before when 13 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins were down -52% from the week before when 23 incidents were reported.

Of the 13 vehicle thefts reported, six have since been recovered.

Haʻikū:

• Thursday, Feb. 28, 1:32 p.m.: 105 Paʻuwela Rd, Haʻikū at Haʻikū Elementary School. Non-residential, attempted burglary.

Kahului:

• Sunday, Feb. 24, 3:12 p.m.: 500 N Puʻunēnē Ave, Kahului at Hideaway building. Non-residential, forced entry.
• Tuesday, Feb. 26, 12:05 p.m.: 660 Lono Ave, Kahului at Maui High School. Non-residential, attempted burglary.
• Thursday, Feb. 28, 7:30 a.m.: 285 Hoʻohana St, Kahului at Storage Inn. Non-residential, forced entry.

Makawao:

• Saturday, March 2, 11:47 a.m.: 1-100 Ai St, Makawao. Residential, forced entry.
