Kēōkea Market Offers Fresh Food and Kanikapila
After a successful launch last week, the Kēōkea Homestead Farm Lots Association will host another farmers market next Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located at the intersection of Kula Highway and Thompson Road, just past Grandmaʻs Coffee House.
“The soft opening was a success,” Kēōkea farmer Alika Akana said. “With all the positive comments from people walking through and (from) vendors, we will continue with this event. We were able to sign up at least five vendors to commit to our continuing event.”
In addition to various vendors offering fresh produce, crafts, and food, the market also features live kanikapila, or backyard jam style Hawaiian music performances.
Anyone interested in vending at the event may call or text 554-4221 or email keokeamarketplace@gmail.com. Spaces are available for some 10-by-10-foot booths and two food trucks and musicians are welcome to kanikapila, Akana said.
The Kēōkea Homestead Farm Lots Association will also host the annual Da Taste of Kēōkea culinary fest on July 13 and a Holiday Crafts event on Sept. 28.
