Fire Destroys Ha‘ikū Home, Family Displaced
Four people escaped unharmed during a structure fire at a home in Haʻikū this morning.
The fire was reported at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at a residence on Kahiapo Place in Haʻikū
Upon arrival on scene, firefighters found a single story residence fully involved in fire.
“There were four residents home at the time, and all were able to escape the structure safely,” said Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.
The blaze was officially declared under control at approximately 12:15 p.m.
There are no injuries to report, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
All residents of the home have been displaced by this fire, and the Red Cross was called in to assist.
Fire companies from Makawao, Pāʻia, and Kahului responded.
