Brush Fire Above Kapalua Airport Burns 3 Acres

Maui fire crews used a helicopter to douse flames at a brush fire above the Kapalua Airport on Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2019.
Captain Jeffrey Giesea, Acting Fire Services Chief, PIO said ground crews found access challenging but were able to reach the fire using a mini pumper from the Nāpili station.
Prevailing winds were from the south at 5 mph. No injuries were sustained and no property damage was reported.
The fire reached approximately three acres in size and was declared extinguished shortly before 7 p.m.
