Maui Gas Prices Continue Rising
Maui gas prices in Kahului and Wailuku averaged $3.78 for regular. That’s five cents higher than last Thursday, 18 cents higher than last month and 20 cents lower than a year ago.
Gas prices increased throughout the islands by a nickel a gallon or more in the past week, according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch.
Today’s statewide average price is $3.59 a gallon, which is five cents higher than last Thursday, 24 cents higher than a month ago and one cent more than a year ago, according to AAA.
“The Energy Information Administration’s weekly report showed that western United States gasoline stocks fell for a fourth consecutive week by 2 million barrels from the previous week and now sit at 29 million barrels,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager. “Gasoline stocks continue to decline, causing pump prices to climb with motorists seeing summer-like demand readings this week.”
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.47, which is six cents higher than last Thursday, 27 cents higher than on this date a month ago and four cents higher than on this date last year.
The Hilo average price is $3.68, which is up five cents from last Thursday, 23 cents higher than on this date last month and eight cents higher than on this date a year ago.
Līhue’s average price for regular is $3.80, which is six cents higher than last Thursday, 24 cents higher than on this date last month and six cents higher than a year ago today.
