Robert Cazimero will perform once again for Lei Day at the MACC’s castle theater on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

For the Lei Day concert, Cazimero will perform a full spectrum of his song catalog while musicians and dancers from his award-winning Hālau Nā Kamalei, big winners at the 2015 Merrie Monarch Festival, accompany him on stage.

Their presentation of the chants, dances and songs of their ancestors serve to honor those musicians, composers, teachers and elders who paved the way for what he and his brother Roland have accomplished in Hawaiian music today.

Recording music has played a vital part in Robert’s life journey. During that journey, he has been a part of close to 40 full album projects, many considered classics in the history of Hawaiian music. The popular success of the music he has made and participated in is recognized through dozens of awards, performances on the world’s most prestigious stages and the millions of albums that have been bought by people around the world.

Robert’s passion and talent have played a huge role in taking Hawaiian music and dance to diverse stages and locales including Carnegie Hall, Wolftrap, Tokyo, and the Hollywood Bowl; his voice has graced the orchestras of the New York Pops, the LA Philharmonic, the Boston Pops and, the Honolulu Symphony. Hula is always an integral part of these shows.

As part of the Ho‘onanea series, the concert will also offer preshow festivities starting at 5:30 p.m. in the MACC’s Yokouchi Pavilion and Courtyard. Island crafters with displays of local arts & crafts and fragrant lei will also be on hand for purchase.

MACC members receive a 10% discount and keiki under 12 are half-price, both excluding the $12 tickets. The MACC Box Office is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for window and phone sales. Online sales are available anytime.
