Pualani Barros shows handmade lei of kukui nuts and ribbon in high school colors. Through an `Ahahui Ka`ahumanu fundraiser, those lei and fresh ti-leaf “maile” lei are available for purchase.

The ladies of ʻAhahui Kaʻahumanu Wailuku Chapter IV host a lei fundraiser during the graduation and wedding season.

The styles offered include a ti-leaf garland (simulating a maile lei look) at $20 each, and nonperishable ribbon/kukui nut lei at two for $25.

Lei makers create the latter in the customer’s choice of hues, to match graduating students’ high school colors, such as maroon and blue for Baldwin; blue and white for Kamehameha; red and white for Lahainaluna.
