A six-year-old girl was transported to the hospital by ambulance after suffering injuries in large surf on Sunday morning, May 12, 2019.

The incident was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. in Kaupō.

Fire officials say the child was swimming when she got rolled around in the surf, hitting her head. She was grabbed from the ocean by a family member.
