Maui Hosts Free Recreation Summer Programs
The County of Maui is celebrating Parks and Recreation Month in July with free summer programs for people of all ages. Programs include movies, dancing and swimming under the stars.
Family movie nights will be held throughout the month starting at sunset at various county parks:
- Friday, July 12, at Kamaʻole III Beach Park in Kīhei. Call 891-4955 for more information.
- Friday, July 19, at War Memorial Stadium Complex (field by the pool). Call 270-7232 for more information.
- Thursday, July 25, at 4th Marine Division Memorial Park in Haʻikū. Call 876-4505 for more information.
- Friday, July 26, at Lahaina Civic Center Amphitheater. Call 270-4314 for more information.
An inclusive dance and karaoke event will be held Tuesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku. For more information, call Inclusion Specialist Richard Antone at 270-1792.
Family swimming under the stars will be held Wednesday and Friday nights from 6 to 8:30 p.m. through July at the Cooke Memorial Pool on Molokaʻi.
These programs are being offered by the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation as part of an initiative by the National Recreation and Park Association. The DPR is leading initiatives and providing opportunities for people of all ages to achieve healthier lifestyles, as well as promote and understand culture and conservation.
The various programs and services are also aimed at bringing communities closer and building stronger relationships. The DPR will continue to provide its regular sports leagues and programs throughout the month of July.
