Margaret Cabral

Margaret Cabral

Margaret S. Cabral of Olinda passed away on July 15, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 5, 1927 in Makawao, Maui.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at St. Joseph Church in Makawao starting at 9 a.m. Mass begins at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Makawao Veteran’s Cemetery.

Margaret is pre deceased by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Cabral, grandson James Cabral, and eight siblings. She is survived by her sons, Frank (Kim Baker) and Michael (Cari Sumabat); daughters, Ramona (Glenn) Ho, Theresa Cabral, and Paula (Ned Jr) Purdy; daughter-in-Law, Kathy Cabral; siblings, Rita Silva, Cecilia Brun and Evelyn Pacheco; grandchildren, Matthew Ho, Malia Ho Hall, Ryan Cabral, Lisa Cabral, Kayla Purdy, Shannon Purdy and 5 great-grandchildren.

Nancy Kaili
June 12, 1947 – July 13, 2019

A private scattering was held. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Kaili; sons, James (Susan) Kaili, Louis (Sahara) Kaili; daughters, Laurie Kaili, Lynn (William) Pitman, Amanda Kaili, Maria (Fredo) Dela Rosa; sisters, Donna Lengele, Margaret Rasmussen; and 11 grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Maui for their compassionate care given to Nancy during this difficult time.

Brian Charles Barton of Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi died on July 11, 2019 in Kealakekua, Hawaiʻi. He was born on Dec. 11, 1954 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.

He is survived by mother Elsie Barton of Kailua Kona; sister Marsha (Robert Tiffany) Sudduth of Kailua Kona and brother Frank H. (Katherine) Barton Jr. Of Kailua Kona. Private services will be held. Mahalo to the many caregivers over the years who have given him their love.

Austin Mereno
June 10, 1948 – July 10, 2019

Austin Mereno of Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi died on July 10, 2019 in Kealakekua, Hawaiʻi. He was born on June 10, 1948 in Los Angeles, California. He worked as a Land Surveyor for the County of Los Angeles.

Mele Finefeuiaki

Mele Alopa Finefeuiaki, 71 of Kīhei, Maui passed away on July 6, 2019 under the care of Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 3, 1947 in Kolonga, Tonga.

Mele is survived by her daughters, Selafina Mafileo (Tevita Mafileo), Mele Lavinia Ngalu Latu (Sione Laufoli Latu), Ofa Tau (Atimoa Tau), Susana Pahulu (Viniseni Pahulu); sons, Sione Tu’ilevu Tau (Phoebe L. Tau), Vili T. Ngalu, Paula Ngalu (Minette Ngalu), Tuuhedohe Ngalu (Ana Ngalu); brothers, Siupeli Tau (Latai Tau), Sione T. Tau (Siosi Tau); sisters, Kolove Kalapa (Tamano Kalapa), Teuila Vaha(Tali Vaha), Kalisi Pua( Masi Pua); 49 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kahului on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Visitation to begin at 9 a.m. with services to begin at noon. Burial to follow at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haʻikū at 2 p.m.

Janet Tamayose
August 16, 1920 – July 3, 2019

Janet Tamayose

Janet is survived by her sons, Ron (Joyce-deceased) Tamayose, Roy Tamayose, Harold Tamayose and Gene Tamayose; daughters, Gale (Michael) Holley and Sherry Tamayose; brother Sidney Kohatsu; sisters, Ethel Miyahira, Jane Watanabe, Sue Inouye and Michie Shiroma as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Private services were held. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Hale Makua-Ilima Wing and Hospice Maui.

June 5, 1948 – July 1, 2019

Jesus is survived by his siblings, Felicitas (Valerio) Bonilla, Noenita (Rodolfo) Cruz, Candido (Elsie) Damaso Jr., Leo (Jocelyn) Damaso; nieces and nephews, Eloise Dizon, Neil Cruz, Yvonne Voss, Elison Bonilla, Jennifer Scharer, Kathleen Cruz, Liza Escritor, Jayson Damaso, Jovito Damaso, Janel Damaso, Judith Albano, Jonathan Damaso, Reynulfo Constantino Jr., Ulysses Damaso and Annaly Damaso.

He is predeceased by his parents, Candido and Tereza Damaso Sr.
Private services were held.

Macario Balucan
September 4, 1955 – June 30, 2019

Services to be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church, 28-1104 Mamalahoa Highway, Pepeʻekeo, HI 96783. Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m. Private scattering of ashes to be held at a later date.

Macario is survived by spouse Scarlet Sumi Balucan of Hilo; sons Justin (Cyanne) Bondaug-Balucan of Keaʻau, HI, Macario “TJ” Balucan of Hilo, HI; daughter Jonalynn Balucan of Las Vegas, NV; brothers Nario Libron of Kohala, HI, John (Judy) Balucan of Kailua-Kona, HI, Denis (Audrey) Balucan of Kailua-Kona, HI; brothers-in-law David Magallanes of Kailua-Kona, HI, Roy Horikoshi of Maui, Walter Horikoshi of Honolulu, HI; sisters Isabella Dela Cruz of Kailua-Kona, HI, Felicia “Ann” Gragas of Mt. View, HI, Patricia Segovia of Kamuela, HI, Matilda (Wayne) Cazimero of Kailua, HI and nine grandchildren. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo.

Pamela Kepani
July 31, 1946 – June 29, 2019

Pamela Kepani

A graduate of St. Anthony High School class of 1964, she retired from the Hawaiian Telephone Company after 25 years of dedicated service then became a contractor with the U.S. Postal Service for over 20 years until retirement.

Although she is no longer here, she will continue to live in the hearts of her daughters, Korinne (Lloyd) Corpuz, Kolyne (Gregory) Cabanas, Karilee Meyer (Joe Kaiwi Jr.), Keni (Albert “Pache”) Brittain; grandchildren, Kyle Corpuz, Chastyne (Kainoa) Aki, Colten Brittain, Kylee Kaala Corpuz, Colby Brittain, Cole Brittain, Chaycen “Kepa” Cabanas, Colson Brittain, and (1) great grandchild, Braxyne Aki.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Norman’s Mortuary from 9 a.m. with service to begin at 10 a.m. Burial is to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku.

The family of Pamela “BUZZY” Kepani would like to express a heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Islands Hospice, MEO Transportation, Liberty Dialysis and the staff of Maui Adult Day Care especially to Lydia Torres & John Ilar for their compassionate care during her time here.
