Maui Youth Invited to Free Volleyball Clinics
Maui keiki will get the chance to participate in free beach volleyball clinics beginning next Monday.
The first clinic will be held on Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. at Kalama Park in Kīhei. The second will be held on Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club in Lahaina, and the last will be held on Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. at Kanahā Beach Park in Kahului.
These events are a part of a partnership between the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority and the Association of Volleyball Professionals to host 17 beach volleyball clinics on six Hawaiian islands.
Hawaiʻi-born Olympian Kevin Wong and renowned beach volleyball athlete Lia Young Hunt will lead the clinics along with current AVP professionals. Beach volleyball staff and players from the University of Hawaiʻi will also assist with the clinics.
“This meaningful partnership with AVPFirst will give children across the state the opportunity to explore their interest in beach volleyball by learning from some of the best,” HTA president Chris Tatum said.

The AVP Pro Tour will also culminate its 2019 season from Sept. 20 to Sept. 22 at the AVP Hawaiʻi Open on the Fort DeRussy beachfront in Waikīkī. The free event will offer family-friendly activities, DJ music, food, beverages and meet and greet opportunities.
