This yearʻs Maui Hotel & Lodging Association Charity Walk raised $1,316,956, the MHLA announced on Tuesday.

The walk was held earlier this year and included events on Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi that drew several thousands of walkers.

The MHLA honored 100 non-profit organizations for their participation in the event at a reception earlier this month.

“The range of services of these recipients touches many residents’ lives from children to the elderly, from athletic organizations to service-related agencies; from health to housing,” MHLA executive director Lisa Paulson said.

“We are thrilled to have surpassed the one-million-dollar mark for the fourth year in a row.”

According to the MHLA, the Charity Walk is one of the largest single-day fundraising events in Hawaiʻi.

Since the MHLA started hosting the event in 1980, walkers throughout Maui County have raised $14.2 million for non-profit organizations on all three islands.
