Hāna Hwy Landslide Repair Closure in Kīpahulu Starts Today
A portion of Hāna Highway will be closed in Kīpahulu starting today (Sept. 16, 2019) in order for crews to repair landslide damage to the road.
The closure is located about half a mile on the Hāna side of Haleakalā National Park in Kīpahulu.
Work will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., today, Sept. 16 through Wednesday, Sept. 18.
This is a full road closure, meaning traffic will not be permitted through the area during working hours. Motorists will be advised of road closures by electronic message boards – one located in Hāna town and one at ʻUlupalakua Ranch.
Tom’s Backhoe and Excavation was awarded the $836,071 contract for the project.
