Kula Hospital Offers Nurse Aid Training

After a successful program launch, Kula Hospital will continue its certified nurse aid training.

The paid program is a part of Maui Health’s “grow your own initiative,” a partnership with the University of Hawai’i Maui College of Nursing and other medical training programs offered to current Maui Memorial Medical Center employees.

Since its inception in 2017, Maui Health has hired over 100 graduates from UH Maui’s nursing program.

“We’re excited to continue this program and hope that this helps encourage people to explore a new career in healthcare so we can continue to build a sustainable workforce with talented members of our own community,” Kula Hospital director of long-term care & critical access Kerry Pitcher said in a press release.

The CNA program is open to high school graduates or those with a GED certificate. The six-week training will be held at Kula Hospital on Fridays and Saturdays beginning in early November.

Accepted students will be paid for the duration of the training. After completing the program, students will be offered full-time employment at Kula Hospital as a certified nurse aide.
