A community open house takes place tonight and on Saturday for the public to learn more about the proposed Pulelehua development in West Maui. The project is proposed for development on the strip of land between the Kapalua Airport and the Honoapiʻilani Highway on both sides of Akahele Street.
The 304-acre community hopes to offer a 10-acre multi-sport park, a community wide exclusive potable water system, a water treatment system, neighborhood service retail centers and a future elementary school and miles of jogging and biking trails.
According to the project website, when fully developed, Pulelehua will have up to 1,000 residential units comprised of affordable rentals, market rate rentals, lots and ʻohana units.
Tonight’s open house starts at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday’s open house is from 9 to 11 a.m. Both will be held at the Princess Nāhi‘ena‘ena Elementary School Cafeteria (816 South Niheu Street in Lahaina).
In June 2016, Maui Land & Pineapple Company sold the fully-entitled working-class community project parcel to Maui Oceanview LP for $15 million to reduce the company’s bank debt.
