For many, one of the good things about the holidays is getting to exchange gifts with loved ones.
Others, however, cannot afford that privilege.
But a group of volunteers is looking to spread the holiday cheer amongst Maui’s keiki in need.
This past Saturday, about 30 good samaritans gathered at the old Lowes building in Maui Marketplace to assemble bikes to gift to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui.
The project is a part of the Jim Falk’s Automotive annual Christmas donation.
Volunteers at Saturday’s workshop built a little over 100 bikes, notable progress towards their goal of 500.
Anyone interested in helping build bikes can join the group this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old Lowes building, located at 270 Dairy Rd. in Kahului.
There will also be other workshops on Nov. 23 and 30, as well as Dec. 7 and 14 at the same time and location. Tools will be provided.
