Seabury Hall hosts its first annual Seabury Hall-iday: Holiday Lights for Charity event on Friday, Dec. 6 on the school’s Olinda campus. The event begins at 5 p.m. with illumination of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m., and concludes at 7 p.m.
Festivities include a tree lighting ceremony, cocoa and cookies, pictures with surfin’ Santa, stories with Mrs. Claus, winter-ful decorations, and holiday musical performances by school’s band, chorus and Hawaiian ensemble.
Seabury Hall students will team up to decorate buildings on campus and the public is
invited to vote for their favorite by making a donation to a local nonprofit specially chosen by
students and faculty.
Proceeds from the vote will go to various organizations including: Friends of the
Children’s Justice Center of Maui, Hospice Maui, Ka Hale a Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers, Maui Friends of the Library, Maui Humane Society, Pacific Cancer Foundation and Pono Academy.
The family-friendly event is open to the public. Admission is one canned or boxed non-
perishable food item for the Maui Food Bank. Seabury Hall is located at 480 Olinda Road in
Makawao. Free parking is available at Oskie Rice Arena located at 521 Olinda Road.
Head of School Maureen Madden said, “We are so excited here at Seabury Hall to be hosting this community event to kick-off the holiday season. Our entire school community is working together by decorating our campus in a joyous ‘neighborhood’ competition to raise money for those on Maui who need support. We hope that this will be an opportunity for all of us to be reminded how important it is to spread joy while giving back to the community.”
