Mayor Michael Victorino answers some of the most-asked questions submitted to his office staff.

Q: Aloha Mayor! I think it’s wonderful you’re throwing a Christmas celebration for our youth on Friday at the County Building, but my only question is where should I park? Happy Holidays!

A: Thank you for your kind words and excitement for this event! Mrs. Victorino and I really wanted to bless the community with a special Christmas celebration and small parade down Main Street, so I want to warmly welcome everyone to attend.

I asked that festivities begin after 5 p.m. so there would be street parking available around the Kalana O Maui Building. If you need any handicap assistance, please call my office at (808) 270-7855.

As a reminder to everyone, the event is free and open to the public, and takes place on Friday, Dec. 6, on the front lawn of the County Building. It will feature a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and a mini-parade at around 5:45 p.m. that ends at First Friday on Market Street.

It’s going to be a fun, family-friendly event to kick off the Christmas season and we’ll be passing out goodie bags to all attendees. St. Anthony School’s concert band also will play Christmas carols alongside Santa Claus and Baldwin High School’s state championship cheerleading squad.

Joycelyn and I were so proud of coach Kealii Molina’s girls for making history and becoming the first Neighbor Island team to win the large division state crown, we wanted to honor them during the festivities. We also hope to honor a couple other groups this coming Friday, but we’ll leave that as a surprise. Mahalo for your question and aloha!
