Water customers in West, Central and Upcountry Maui are asked to continue voluntary water conservation efforts.  The request comes from the Department of Water Supply and is in effect despite recent rainfall.

“Although recent rains have improved water availability,” department officials say they have not been enough for customers to be mindful of the need for conservation.

Overall, dry conditions and warmer average temperatures persist.

With El Niño weather conditions in a neutral stage, the department hopes that near-normal and wetter weather patterns will return in the coming months.

Customers are asked to check around their property for leaks, to water yards less frequently and to use low-flow fixtures. The department has free items for members of the public, such as: faucet aerators for the kitchen or bathroom, leak detection dye tablets for toilets and low-flow shower heads.
