Maui Crime Dec. 29-Jan. 4: Burglaries, Break-ins, Thefts

Maui police responded to 15 burglaries, seven vehicle thefts and 13 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Dec. 29, 2019 to Jan. 4, 2020.

Burglaries were up 275 percent from the week before when nine incidents were reported over a seven day period. Vehicle thefts decreased -42 percent from the week before when 12 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins were up 18 percent from the previous week, when 11 incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

15 Burglaries


  • Saturday, Jan. 4, 11:57 a.m.: 13900 Block of Hāna Highway, Hāna. Residential, unlawful entry.


  • Sunday, Dec. 29, 12:13 p.m.: 2200 Block of Lilikoi Rd., Haʻikū. Residential, unlawful entry.


  • Sunday, Dec. 29, 11:56 a.m.: 415 Ala Makani St., Kahului at Dental Care of Maui. Non-residential, attempted burglary.
  • Monday, Dec. 30, 11:51 a.m.: 1-100 Block of Vevau St., Kahului. Residential, forced entry.
  • Thursday, Jan. 2, 7:55 a.m.: 300 Block of Kanaloa Ave., Kahului. Residential, forced entry.


  • Sunday, Dec. 29, 10:04 a.m.: 2575 S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at Maui Banyan. Non-residential, forced entry.


  • Monday, Dec. 30, 11:30 a.m.: 3900 Block of Maʻalaea Bay Pl., Maʻalaea. Residential, forced entry.


  • Sunday, Dec. 29, 6:43 p.m.: 4890 Kahekili Hwy., Waiheʻe. Non-residential, unlawful entry.


  • Thursday, Jan. 2, 1:43 p.m.: 280 Waihuali St., Waikapū at King Kamehameha Golf Course. Non-residential, forced entry.


  • Monday, Dec. 30, 8:29 a.m.: 3300 Block of Wailea Alanui Dr., Wailea. Residential, unlawful entry.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 31, 5:48 p.m.: 3700 Block of Wailea Alanui Dr., Wailea. Residential, unlawful entry.


  • Monday, Dec. 30, 7:30 a.m.: 355 S High St., Wailuku at Wailuku Elementary School. Non-residential, unlawful entry.
  • Thursday, Jan. 2, 8:16 a.m.: 1-100 Block of Ka Ikena Loop, Wailuku. Residential, unlawful entry.
  • Friday, Jan. 3, 10:14 a.m.: 670 Waiale Rd., Wailuku at Ka Hale a Ke Ola: 10-3 Cafeteria. Non-residential, unlawful entry.
  • Saturday, Jan. 4, 2:43 a.m.: 700 Halia Nakoa St., Wailuku at Keopuolani at Wahinepio. Non-residential, attempted burglary.

  • Sunday, Dec. 29, 7:28 p.m.: 275 Kaʻahumanu Ave., Kahului at Queen Kaʻahumanu Shopping Center. Golf cart, white.
  • Monday, Dec. 30, 4:46 p.m.: 310 Kaʻahumanu Ave., Kahului at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College. Toyota, grey.


  • Saturday, Jan. 4, 5:17 p.m.: 200 Block of Kauhaʻa St., Kīhei. Moped, blue/black.


  • Friday, Jan. 3, 10:59 a.m.: 1850 Honoapiʻilani Hwy., Lahaina at the Lahaina Police Station. Honda, blue.
  • Saturday, Jan. 4, 10:34 p.m.: 180 Dickenson St., Lahaina at Dickenson Square. Toyota, black.


  • Saturday, Jan. 4, 8:26 a.m.: 11050 Honoapiʻilani Hwy., Maʻalaea at the Pali Tunnel. Toyota, gold.


  • Tuesday, Dec. 31, 9:34 a.m.: 200 Block of Ea St., Wailuku. Ford, black.
