UPDATE: Maui Police Investigation at ‘Īao School
MAUI POLICE UPDATE: (1:32 p.m., Jan. 29, 2020)
Officers have completed their investigation into this matter and found no threat to anyone at the school. “For parents, we appreciate your cooperation. Please refer to School protocols regarding pick-up of your children,” police said.

Maui police continue their investigation into a third-party report of a possible threat at ʻĪao Intermediate School.
Parents of students at the school received a message from administrators saying the administration received an anonymous phone call at 11:40 a.m., claiming the existence of a Facebook post describing an alleged threat to the safety of the campus. “Out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed on lockdown,” the message read.
The message further stated that Maui police are on site and are investigating. It says they “have found no evidence of imminent danger at this time.”
As classes and the campus are cleared, students are being assembled at Wells Park in Wailuku.

Officers are continuing to investigate this matter. The public is asked to please avoid the area around the school while police continue with checks.
UPDATE FROM MPD: (12:20 p.m., Jan. 29, 2020) Maui police officers are currently investigating a third-party report of a possible threat at ʻĪao Intermediate School. Officers are currently investigating this matter and have found nothing to substantiate these claims at this time. All children are safe at this time.
ʻĪAO SCHOOL ON LOCKDOWN: (12:08 p.m., Jan. 29, 2020) Maui police have reports coming in that ʻĪao School in Wailuku is on lockdown. We will update you when more information becomes available.
