Trilogy Excursions Suspends Operations in Response to Coronavirus
Trilogy Excursions is suspending all regular tour operations for two weeks, according to an announcement today from company President Gabe Lucy
Lucy said the suspension comes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As a family and as a business, we have an obligation to make difficult decisions and take action to protect our employees, our guests, and our community. We have been called upon to help slow the rate of the virus transmission and ensure that those who may become infected receive the medical assistance they need,” he said.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has rapidly evolved. In the last 24 hours the Federal Government has issued new and more restrictive recommendations concerning schools, social gatherings, and travel.
Across the country, increased states, cities and communities are implementing additional restrictions of their own in response to public health officials warnings.
“As a leader in sustainable tourism and ocean recreation, Trilogy is asking its fellow operators to join in solidarity as an industry and island community to take the steps necessary to slow the rate of virus transmission,” company representatives said in the announcement.
All guests currently booked on a Trilogy tour over the next two weeks will receive a cancellation email and full refund for their tour.
“As the situation evolves, we will continue to evaluate the possibility of resuming normal operations based on the recommendations from our nation’s experts,” Lucy said. “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and are prepared to take all steps necessary to help in the fight against the virus.”
Trilogy is a family owned and operated business and the oldest charter sailboat company on Maui. The company is best known for its unique all day excursion to the island of Lānaʻi and their half-day snorkel sails to Molokini crater and Honolua Bay.
