Hoʻāla Assistance Program Provides up to $1000 Per Household for Financial Hardship Due to Pandemic

The Hoʻāla Assistance Program, funded by the Hawaiʻi Resilience Fund is providing one-time emergency financial assistance of up to $1000 per household to Hawaiʻi residents facing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

HRF is made possible through a partnership between the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation and Pierre & Pam Omidyar.

The program aims to provide stability to families during this emergency situation.

The program can fund: mortgage payments; rent payments; utility services; and certified childcare services.

Te be eligibile, applicants must be 18 years of age or older, a Hawaiʻi resident and demonstrate a loss of income and/or increased financial need directly resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funds will go directly to vendors whom applicants have an obligation with.

Applicants must create an account in the program portal, submit an intake form online and upload required documents.

Required documents include:

  • State of Hawaiʻi ID;
  • Income Verification (One month of most recent paystub(s), most recent bank statements for all accounts and public benefit statement if applicable);
  • Proof of Hardship (Written notice from employers indicating loss of income due to COVID-19, or other valid documentation showing hardship due to COVID-19); and
  • Documents Reflecting Need (Mortgage/rental past due notice, utility past due notice(s), and/or invoice for childcare service).

This program will go live on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 9 a.m.
