Maui Crime April 12 to April 18: Break-ins, Burglaries, Thefts

Maui police responded to 15 burglaries, 4 vehicle thefts and 9 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from April 12 to April 18, 2020.

Burglaries increased 67 percent from the week before, when 9 incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts dropped 20 percent from the week before when 5 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins increased 13 percent from the previous week, when 8 incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

15 Burglaries

Hāna:

  • Sunday, April 12, 4:19 p.m.: 400 Alalele Pl., Hāna at Hāna Airport. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Monday, April 13, 11:49 a.m.: 200 Block of Waiʻānapanapa Road, Hāna. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

Haʻikū: 

  • Monday, April 13, 7:35 p.m.: 500 Block of kaupakalua Road, Haʻikū. Residential, forced entry.

Kahului: 

  • Monday, April 13, 10:30 a.m.: 66 Hoʻokele St., Kahului at Ulta Beauty. Non-residential, attempted burglary.
  • Monday, April 13, 12:01 p.m.: 285 Hoʻohana St., Kahului at Kahului Storage Unit. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Thursday, April 16, 7:00 a.m.: 660 Lono Ave., Kahului at Maui High School. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

Kīhei: 

  • Sunday, April 12, 12:27 p.m.: 75 Alanui Ke Aliʻi, Kīhei at Worldmark. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Monday, April 13, 9:04 a.m.: 1280 S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at Ace Hardware Azeka. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Monday, April 13, 9:51 a.m.: 2737 S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at Hale Kamaʻole. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Tuesday, April 14, 9:25 a.m.: 2191 S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at Maui Vista. Non-residential, forced entry.

Pāʻia: 

  • Thursday, April 16, 8:00 a.m.: 1389 Hāna Hwy., Pāʻia at Hoʻokipa Park. Non-residential, forced entry.
