Mid-Day Brush Fire Near Lahaina Bypass Burns 5 Acres
A mid-day brush fire in Lahaina on Friday burned an estimated five acres before being brought under control.
The fire was first reported at 11:21 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2020 in the area of Lahainaluna Road and the Lahaina Bypass.
Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro said despite difficulty accessing the fire, crews were able to contain the fire within two hours by 1:15 p.m.
Crews responding to the scene included: Engine 3, Ladder 3, Engine 11, Engine 14, Tanker 3, Tanker 14, Battalion Chief 5 and the department’s Air 1 helicopter.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
