Kula Structure Fire Results in $65,000 Damage

A structure fire in Kula, Maui on Sunday night resulted in $35,000 in damage to the structure, $20,000 in damage to its contents and $10,000 in damage to a vehicle within, according to Fire Department reports.

The fire was first reported at 9:35 p.m. on Mauna Place. Upon arrival crews found a shed/carport-type structure fully involved with fire.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze and confirmed that there were no occupants within.

The fire was declared extinguished several hours later at 1:19 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Maui fire officials say one firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital in stable condition.

No one was displaced and the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Units responding to the scene included: Engine 13, Engine 5, Hazmat 10, Tanker 10, Battalion Chief 1.
