Maui police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred in South Maui on Friday morning.

Police were initially dispatched to a Kīhei residence at around 10:58 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021 after receiving a cal from GPS Pendant Alarm.

The alarm company reported that while communicating with a subscriber via phone, they heard what sounded like gunshots.

Police conducted checks at the subscriber’s residence in Kīhei; however, the residence was unoccupied, according to police.
