Surf is expected to be in the 10 to 15 foot range along the north facing shores of Maui, Molokaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island.

The National Weather Service says surf will hold at advisory levels through the day today as the large north swell that peaked Sunday slowly lowers.

The advisory for north facing shores in Maui County may need to be extended as another long-period northwest swell builds down the island chain later today through tonight, according to the NWS forecast.

The advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m.

The public can expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers are asked to heed all advice given by
ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
