Maui Crime Dec. 27, 2020 – Jan. 2, 2021: Burglaries, Break-ins, Thefts

Maui police responded to nine burglaries, 13 vehicle thefts and nine vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Dec. 27, 2020 to Jan. 2, 2021.

Burglaries increased 50 percent from the week before when six incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts decreased seven percent from the week before when 14 incidents were reported. Vehicle break-ins neither increased nor decreased from the week before when nine incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

9 Burglaries

Haʻikū:

  • Friday, Jan. 1, 9:01 a.m.: 375 W Kuiaha Rd., Haʻikū. Non-residential, forced entry.

Kapalua:

  • Sunday, Dec. 27, 8:43 a.m.: Honoapiʻilani Hwy. / Office Rd., Kapalua. Non-residential, unlawful entry.

Lahaina:

  • Sunday, Dec. 27, 6:59 a.m.: 843 Waineʻe, Lahaina. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Monday, Dec. 28, 6:40 a.m.: 505 Front St., Lahaina. Non-residential, forced entry.

Makawao:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 30, 5:53 p.m.: 1000 block of Makawao Ave., Makawao. Residential, forced entry.

Pāʻia:

  • Tuesday, Dec. 29, 9:02 a.m.: 200 block of Hāna Hwy., Pāʻia. Residential, unlawful entry.

Pukalani:

  • Sunday, Dec. 27, 5:55 p.m.: 2600 block of ʻIolani St., Pukalani. Residential, unlawful entry.
  • Friday, Jan. 1, 2:51 p.m.: 2885 ʻIolani St., Pukalani. Non-residential, forced entry.

Wailuku:

  • Thursday, Dec. 31, 2:41 a.m.: 51 N Market St., Wailuku. Non-residential, forced entry.

13 Vehicle Thefts

Haʻikū:

  • Friday, Jan. 1, 4:47 p.m.: 10600 block of Hāna Hwy., Haʻikū. Dodge, maroon.

Kahului:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 30, 4:53 p.m.: 101 Airport Access Rd., Kahului at Kahului Airport Car Rental Center. Jeep, white.

Kapalua:

  • Sunday, Dec. 27, 10:01 a.m.: 13800 Kahekili Hwy., Kapalua at Nākālele Point. Jeep, orange.
  • Sunday, Dec. 27, 10:18 a.m.: 13800 Kahekili Hwy., Kapalua at Nākālele Point. Jeep, white.
  • Sunday, Dec. 27, 12:05 p.m.: Honoapiʻilani Hwy. MP 34-5, Kapalua. Honda, silver.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1:25 p.m.: Honolua Bay, Kapalua. Dodge, grey.

  • Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1:07 p.m.: 1-100 Hune One Ln., Kīhei. Yamaha, silver.
