The Department of Public Works will close a portion of Kaupakalua Road in Haʻikū on Jan. 16 and 23 for a road repaving project from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The closure will be on Kaupakalua Road between Burns Road and Ulumalu Road. Electronic signs boards have informed residents of the pending project and detour signs will redirect motorists during the project.

Maui Paving LLC is the contractor on the second phase of a project to reconstruct Kaupakalua Road from East Kuiaha Road to Hāna Highway. Work on the project began in early October. Completion is set for mid-April.
