The Maui County Council’s Government Relations, Ethics and Transparency Committee will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. to vet the nomination of Andrew H. Martin for prosecuting attorney.

Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Martin. PC: 10.23.19 by Wendy Osher

Committee Chair Mike Molina said  Martin’s nomination comes with almost 10 years of experience with the county and 20 years of practicing law. He was nominated to the post by Mayor Michael Victorino on Jan. 20.

“We’re looking forward to moving in a positive direction with a new prosecuting attorney,” Molina said. “The department needs steady leadership, and the committee looks forward to meeting with Mr. Martin and seeing if he’s a good fit to serve our community in this vital role.”

Martin is a deputy prosecuting attorney. His resume—available in the committee’s public files—shows other government experience, including service as deputy city prosecutor in Long Beach, Calif., law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney and legal extern for US Sen. John McCain.

  • the Commission on Healing Solutions for Homelessness; and
  • the Conservation Planning Committee.
