Wind gusts in excess of 55 mph are expected over the summit of Haleakalā on Maui today.

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for all Hawaiian Islands through 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021.

The forecast calls for southwest to west winds, blowing at 20 to 30 mph with localized gusts over 50 mph expected.

Portions of Kahoʻolawe, Lānaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi are included in the advisory.

The NWS advises that winds this strong will make driving difficult and will be capable of downing trees and causing power outages. Motorists should use extra caution.
