Maui Crime Aug. 1-7, 2021: Burglaries, Break-ins, Thefts

Maui police responded to nine burglaries, nine vehicle thefts and 14 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Aug. 1-7, 2021.

The percentage of burglary cases increased 80% from the week before when five incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts increased 29% from the week before when seven incidents were reported. Vehicle break-ins increased 250% from the week before when four incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

9 Burglaries

Kīhei:

  • Monday, Aug. 2, 2:14 p.m.: 131 S Kīhei Road, Kīhei. Non-residential, unlawful entry.
  • Friday, Aug. 6, 11:45 p.m.: 1301 S Kīhei Road, Kīhei at Jack in the Box Kīhei. Non-residential, unlawful entry.

Kula:

  • Friday, Aug. 6, 7:33 a.m.: 10300 Haleakalā Highway, Kula. Non-residential, forced.
  • Friday, Aug. 6, 7:05 p.m.: Kulamalu Park Road / ʻŌhiʻa Kū St., Kula. Non-residential, unlawful entry.

Lahaina:

  • Sunday, Aug. 1, 8:57 a.m.: 700 block of Waineʻe St., Lahaina. Residential, forced entry.
  • Friday, Aug. 6, 5:38 p.m.: 600 block of Waineʻe St., Lahaina. Residential, unlawful entry.

Makawao:

  • Friday, Aug. 6, 3:43 p.m.: 1057 Makawao Ave., Makawao at Hale Mahaolu Eha. Non-residential, forced entry.

Wailea:

  • Sunday, Aug. 1, 9:30 a.m.: 3300 Wailea Alanui Drive, Wailea at Wailea Ekahi Village. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 4, 9:24 p.m.: 1-100 Hoʻolei Circle, Wailea. Residential, unlawful entry.

9 Vehicle Thefts

Kaunakakai:

  • Monday, Aug. 2, 9:59 a.m.: 1-100 Kamoi St., Kaunakakai. Infiniti, silver.

Kīhei:

  • Monday, Aug. 2, 9:12 a.m.: 100 block of South Kīhei Road, Kīhei. Volkswagen, grey.

Lahaina:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 3, 11:53 a.m.: Kai Hele Kū St. / Waianukole St., Lahaina. Chevrolet, white.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 4, 8:36 a.m.: 305 Keawe St., Lahaina at Lahaina Gateway. Isuzu, color unknown.
  • Thursday, Aug. 5, 3:01 p.m.: 11400 block of Honoapiʻilani Highway, Lahaina. Volkswagen, white.

Lānaʻi:

  • Monday, Aug. 2, 9:28 a.m.: 1100 block of Lānaʻi Ave., Lānaʻi. Dodge, blue.

Māʻalaea:

  • Thursday, Aug. 5, 3:22 p.m.: N Kīhei Road, Māʻalaea at Keālia Boardwalk. Hyundai, silver.
