Gilligans Bar & Grill Opens at Maui Nui Golf Course in Kīhei

A new restaurant in South Maui is serving up southern style comfort food. Gilligans Bar & Grill is now open at the Maui Nui Golf Course located at 470 Līpoa Parkway in Kīhei.

Gilligans offers sweeping views of the ocean, the golf course, and Haleakalā, as well as evening sunset views of the island. NFL fans can also catch games on the restaurants indoor and outdoor TVs, according to a restaurant announcement.

“I’m excited to offer a venue where friends can gather to watch the game outdoors” said Brian Smith, owner of Gilligans. “We don’t really have many places here you can do that.”

Gilligans Bar & Grill is a unique style restaurant that fuses the taste of southern comfort foods, island style favorites, and classic sports bar selections.

Specialties include everything from a signature hot dog–known as the WV Dog, country style pork chops, and half-pound burgers. There’s also house made hummus, a blackened fish sandwich, calamari, and desserts like caramel apple pie. The most popular item so far has been the “frickles” or fried pickles, which sold out entirely in the first four hours of the restaurant’s grand opening.

Gilligans is opening after a nine-month renovation, including work by local artist Mike Waggoner who airbrushed tiki poles throughout the interior.

While many things are new, some classic Maui memorabilia can be found at Gilligans as well. “Many of you will recognize the iconic wooden bar top from Charley’s that Gilligans purchased from them when the Pāʻia restaurant closed earlier this year,” according to a restaurant announcement.

Gilligans plans to offer entertainment such as live bands, comedy shows, and karaoke nights in the near future.

Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Happy Hour is offered daily from 3-5 p.m. and all day on Sunday.
