Damon Uribes

Aug. 12, 1956 – Sept. 16, 2021

Damon David Uribes, 65, of Ocean View, passed away on Sept. 16, 2021 in Kealakekua. He was born Aug. 12, 1956, in San Bernadino, California.

He is survived by sons Damon, Richard and John Uribes; mother Hannah Uribes of Ocean View; brothers William (Chris Nancy) Uribes of Las Vegas, Nevada; Ramon (Sherry) Uribes of Hilo, Hawaiʻi; Casey (Elsie) Uribes of Hilo, Hawaii; sisters Marjorie Torres of Las Vegas, Nevada; Christina (Carey) Sledge of Oklahoma; Belinda (Shipp) Uribes of Victorville, California; and Joy Uribes of Colton, California.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Cathy Landeros

Jan. 3, 1965 – Oct. 4, 2021

Cathy Lale Louise Landeros, 56, of Ocean View, passed away on Oct. 4, 2021 in Kealakekua. She was born Jan. 3, 1965, in San Bernadino, California.

She is survived by son Ralph Landeros IV; mother Hannah Uribes of Ocean View; brothers William (Chris Nancy) Uribes of Las Vegas, Nevada; Ramon (Sherry) Uribes of Hilo, Hawaiʻi; Casey (Elsie) Uribes of Hilo, Hawaii; sisters Marjorie Torres of Las Vegas, Nevada; Christina (Carey) Sledge of Oklahoma; Belinda (Shipp) Uribes of Victorville, California; and Joy Uribes of Colton, California.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Tamiko Tucker

Jan. 7, 1932 – Sept. 20, 2021

Tamiko Tucker, 89, of Wailuku, peacefully passed away on Sept. 20, 2021 surrounded by family. Tamiko Obayashi was born on Jan. 7, 1932 in Kula Maui. Tamiko was one of 10 children. She boarded and graduated from Roosevelt High School on Oʻahu.

Tamiko met her late husband Merle Tucker on Oʻahu, who was serving as a Marine. The newlywed couple moved to the Mainland to raise their two sons. Tamiko was a homemaker until her sons graduated high school. She then worked as a nurse at an OBGYN clinic and eventually became the general manager until returning to Maui for retirement in the early 90s. Tamiko and Merle spent their time enjoying Maui and spending time with their grandchildren until his untimely passing in 1999.

Tamiko’s family would sometimes joke that she was busier in her years of retirement than when she was while employed. Tamiko volunteered at Maui Arts and Cultural Center, Hale Makua, The Sugar Museum, Maui DMV and occasionally helped with small business taxes.

She was also pre-deceased by her son John Carl Tucker.

She is survived by her son Lynn Tucker (Sherri Tucker) and daughter-in-law Linda Tucker.

She has two grandchildren Lon Tucker (Shahlia Wainui-Tucker), and Chelsea Greenwell (Kim Greenwell).

Tamiko has five great-grandchildren. Keili Tucker (20), Noa Wainui (19), Randi Benjamin (15), Aukele Wainui-Tucker (eight) and Madex Greenwell (seven).

Tamiko’s family will be having a drive-by service on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 at her granddaughter’s residence at 1911 Makila Place in Wailuku from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Private service and burial will be held at a later date.

Trudi Silva

Jan. 27, 1958 – Sept. 25, 2021

Trudi Lynn Silva, 63, of Ocean View died Sept. 25, 2021 in her home. She was born on Jan. 27, 1958 in Pasadena, California.

She is survived by her son, Henry Silva of Ocean View; daughter, Luana (Michael) Brown of Ocean View; sister, Chris Johnson of Colorado and two grandchildren.

Linda Higgins

Nov. 24, 1948 – Sept. 28, 2021

Linda Higgins, 72, passed away on Sept. 28, 2021 surrounded by her loving family: husband, Joseph Higgins; daughter, Michelle Lindsay; grandson, Jordan Moore and her 98-year-old father, Florencio Ribucan. She was predeceased by her mother, Joyce Marjarie Enriques Ribucan.

Linda was born in Pāʻia, Maui and grew up in Hamakuapoko (H-Poko). Although Linda was an only child she flourished and was surrounded by a community that included her uncles, aunties, the Enriqueses and the Ribucans. She attended Hamakuapoko elementary school, Pāʻia school, Holy Rosary school and was a proud member of the St. Anthony Girls High School class of 1965.

Linda is most known for her work at Seabury Hall. She began her time at the school as a secretary in 1980. She was offered the position of school librarian in 1981 which she accepted and held for over 30 years. While she was working at Seabury Hall she helped plan the school’s new library and earned her master’s degree in information science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1991.

In her later years, she married her highschool sweetheart Joseph Higgins and became a step-mother to four sons and daughters-in-law and grandma to 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Roxanne Carlson

Dec. 25, 1951 – Sept. 29, 2021

Roxanne Marie Carlson, born on Christmas Day in 1951, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2021 at the age of 69, dying peacefully in her sleep while at home in Maui, Hawaiʻi.

Roxanne was one of the Lord’s most dependable angels here on earth, spreading His word everywhere she went. She is greatly missed by all her family and friends all over the country.

Roxanne devoted her whole life to the Lord, getting her nursing degree at Roberts Wesleyan College which ultimately, along with the Church, led her to a school nurse position at the Doris Todd Christian Academy in Maui, where she served for 43 years.

Predeceased by J. Elton and Eleanor Carlson, who no doubt welcomed their first daughter with open arms.

Roxanne is survived by siblings Richard (Diane) Carlson, David (Mary) Carlson, James Carlson, Jeff (Suzie) Carlson, Nancy (Mike Stasch) Ensman, Linda (Mike) Jamalkowski and John Carlson. Also Aunt Joyce Carlson, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is also survived by her Maui family, those she worked with and prayed with, especially her housemate, Carolyn Moore, who considered Roxanne a loyal, faithful friend and a sister.

Memorial arrangements are being made at this time in NY as well as in Maui. In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to be made to the Doris Todd Christian Academy.
