The Maui Fire Department is warning the public of an unsanctioned fundraising effort that is selling unauthorized merchandise featuring the department’s logo.

According to department officials, an internet link is being sent via text message to cell phones, which leads to a website that is selling t-shirts with the logo.

“The Maui Fire Department wanted the general public to know it is in no way connected to this activity and the use of the Department logo has not been authorized,” said MFD Fire Services Chief, Rylan Yatsushiro.
